YouTube looks set to strike a deal with MGM Studios to show full-length films as well as television shows. But reports suggest that the MGM channel will only be available in the US.
The move follows a similar agreement with US broadcaster CBS in October to show TV programmes. The MGM deal seems to show that the Hollywood is finally ready to embrace the YouTube revolution.
The Register reports that the MGM channel will kick off with the first series of "American Gladiators" that late 80s kitsch classic. But an MGM spokesman has been bigging up the deal: "We're looking to mine the breadth and depth of the MGM library to build out and promote branded, multi-platform opportunities on demand, online and wherever viewers consumer their entertainment."
