Yahoo confirm that they are open to collaboration with Microsoft
Yahoo boss Jerry Yang has broken his silence over the failed merger between Yahoo and Microsoft. Yang admitted that Microsoft's takeover of Yahoo would have given the two companies a "tremendous amount of power".
The deal broke down after Yahoo refused to accept Microsoft's $47.5bn offer but Yang again underlined that Yahoo is still open to alternative proposals of a commercial arrangement with Microsoft. Any agreement between the two companies would help them to challenge Google's monopoly of the internet search market.
The Yahoo board are under pressure from angry shareholders who supported the merger with Microsoft and who have been critical of Yahoo's lack of alternative plan for company development. So it looks like this time round when Bill says jump, Jerry & Co. will be asking how high.
