Stay connected with wireless broadband without a phone line

The internet has become such an integral part of our day to day lives over the last fifteen years or so that it's easy to forget that there are many people out there who are still without internet access. Despite all the government initiatives and pushes from local councils to try to make it as accessible as possible, there are many people who simply don't have the option available to them.

But did you know that you can now get wireless broadband without a phone line? Thanks to the recent technological developments in mobile broadband technology, it's now very much a reality - and it needn't cost you an arm and a leg either.

There are many options available to those of you who want to get online but haven't got a phone line through which to get your signal. You could sign up to a cable internet package, but these can be very expensive and are only an option if there is a service in your area.

The most practical alternative, and one which is available to almost everyone is mobile broadband. By buying yourself a mobile broadband dongle from one of the companies offering them, you'll be able to connect to the web at home or on the move if you're using a laptop.

These dongles cost as little as £15, and are available from the likes of T-Mobile, O2, 3, Virgin Mobile and Vodafone on contact and Pay As You Go services. When a contract deal, you'll pay less per month, but you'll find that you're tied down for at least 12 months which doesn't suit many people.

On the other hand, with Pay As You Go you'll simply top up whenever you need to connect and away you go. The prices for Pay As You Go wireless broadband are very reasonable, and you can expect £10 of credit to last you an entire month unless you're planning on watching movies online, or downloading music.
