Windows Phone 7 update arrives at last

They say good things come to those who wait. Well, early adopters of Microsoft's Windows Phone 7 mobile phone software have been waiting patiently for the ability to copy and paste words, which wasn't built in to the initial version of the software. And now their patience has been rewarded. If you've got a Windows Phone 7 handset, you should see a message inviting you to update some time in the next few days.

Besides offering the much-missed cut 'n' paste functionality, the update also offers a host of little improvements to app speeds, email, and more. And, of course, it's free.

But there's no sign of the one big change all WP7 users are patiently awaiting - multi-tasking. That's due in a more major overhaul - that might be called Windows Phone 7.5 - later this year.
