Wii want in

Those sneaky people at Sony have decided that in order to step up their fight against technically inferior but much more popular Nintendo Wii, you got to keep to that old adage of if you can't join 'em, beat 'em.

Rumour has that they've decided to unveil their answer to the Wii-mote's motion sensor controller fun in a bid to grab some potential PS3 users from Ninty. The sneaky rotters. But Sony are attempting to trump Nintendo too, by making it more accurate and inviting select developers to come up with new games for the little beasty.

'Sony's controller apparently used LEDs (light emitting diodes, essentially little electric light sources) and a small webcam to track the device's movements,” says Variety’s Cut Scene blog. 'Because the camera can read different color lights and the shape and angle of each light, it's much more accurate than the Wii-mote.'

We'll soon find out at E3 next month if the rumours are true or not, as Sony are almost certain to unveil the new gadget if it's on the cards.
