Wii U games roundup: part 2

The crazy touchscreen controller might be getting all the attention, but it's the games that will make or break Nintendo's upcoming Wii U console. So how do they look? Well, the line-up is good, but it's really hard to know how well the Wii U will run some well-known games. Let us explain.

Nintendo showed off Wii U versions of a bunch of well-known XBox and 360 games, including Tekken and Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon, as well as new titles such as Dirt, a new racing game from Codemasters. So far, so good. Graphics were impressive, certainly on a par with the Xbox 360 or PlayStation.

Unfortunately, it turns out that's because... they were running on an XBox 360 or PlayStation? Nintendo USA president Reggie Fils-Aime confirmed in an interview later today that, in fact, much of the footage on display actually was from XBox 360 or PlayStation 3 versions of the software. 'Absolutely because we’re talking a year away from when the console will launch,' he said. And that's true. But Nintendo had better be pretty bloody confident that their new baby can live up to the standard they're setting up with this little bit of sleight-of-hand.

Still: Tekken. We know, right?
