Whistleblowing site shut down

A Swiss bank has managed to shut down Wikileaks, a site specialising in publishing leaked documents from government and corporate insiders. A US court order brought by the Julius Baer group forced Wikileaks’ site hosts to pull the site and lock the domain name.

Wikileaks has vowed to continue its activities using mirror sites – and chances are they’ll manage, since they’ve been pretty resourceful in the past. Greatest hits include the official operations manual for soldiers working at Guantánamo Bay – including when people should be denied access to Red Cross inspectors – and confidential briefings about Northern Rock…
