Web the place to be for new mums and dads

Gone are the days when ladies had to rely on old wives' tales when bringing up a child. Today, the web abounds with everything you'd ever need to know about parenting. If you're a new mum, check out the excellent Mumsnet, a great place to meet like minds and where the people's friend David Cameron, of leader of the Tory party fame, has been interviewed by a myriad of mums about their hot topics. Although I'm not sure he would have been able to answer the "could I be pregnant" question...anyway, an interesting read.

Also take a look at e-parents which has some useful facts and figures and BabyWorld which provides its readers with a useful Baby Namer if you can't decide between Mildred or Maude.

But, reader, don't think it's just the mums that are catered for online. No, doting dads also have a good pick of sites, including Dad Cafe, which has the excellent slogan "The Daddy of Daddy Sites". This dad-domain also has an RSS feed you can add to your MIX page if you want more information about the joys of fatherhood.

WebTwitcher's favourite parenting site however, has to be the Dad's section on Pocket Lint which contains reviews of all the dad-type gadgets you could ever wish for. Excellent if you want to be kept up to date with the latest gizmos, including one that will assist you controlling your toddler when you are caught short in the supermarket. Reader I kid you not, a baby-dangling thing is now available so you can hang your child off the back of a door while you attend to more pressing matters. Genius.
