Virgle outlines its plan for a colony on Mars

Virgle, a joint venture between Virgin and Google have announced plans to establish a colony on Mars. Citing the Earth's problems as the motivating factor behind the project, Virgin founder Richard Branson and Google co-founders Larry Page and Sergey Brin will be spearheading one of the most ambitious projects in human history: Project Virgle.

Writing on the official Google blog, Branson outlined the aim of the project: "Virgle's goal is simple: the establishment of a permanent human settlement on Mars. Larry Page, Sergey Brin and I feel strongly that contemporary technology is sufficiently advanced to make such an effort both successful and economical, and that it's high time that humanity moved beyond Earth and began our great, long journey to explore the stars and establish our first lasting foothold on another world."

Project Virgle is looking for volunteers to take part in the endeavor. So if you're bored with terrestrial life why don't you head over to Virgle and sign yourself for what is billed as the 'Adventure of Many Lifetimes'. Virgle plan to have established a permanent human settlement by 2108 called Virgle City.
