We have something of a problem with many of the current modern war games: many of them appear to be heavily loaded with pro-war propaganda, and used to set the invading American forces in a good light, while dehumanising the Iraqis/Afghans/Iranians in the process. That set we also love first-person-shooters, so much so that any political problems we might have melt away the first time we get to whip out an assault rifle.

It’s much the same with Battlefield 3, which from what we can see from the trailer below looks absolutely stunning, and captures (we imagine) the terrifying intensity of urban combat. It would be nice if for once we could play as insurgents, carving up coalition forces into tiny ribbons, just for the sake of variety; but no dice.
