UK is raising school leaver age to 18

Interesting news this morning. The Times reports the legal school leaving age is to be raised to 18, with ten-year-olds who start secondary school next year the first to have to stay in mandatory education until they're 18.

It's the first time the school leaver age has been raised in the UK since 1972.

Tell us what think about the new proposal, which in practice comes into effect in 2013.
