UK is broadband behind, but it comes with free laptops
According to the recent OECD (Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development) report, Britain is now ranked 19th out of 30 countries surveyed about their broadband market. Lack of choice in price and service, as well as speed issues, seem to top the list of reasons why.
At the same time, competition between the broadband suppliers is hotting up again. Orange is now offering new customers a free laptop if they sign up to a two-year, £15-per-month contract in PC World. According to the Times they have "tens of thousands" to give away. If you're not interested in the free wind up model, you can spend a bit extra and upgrade to battery operated model (WebTwitcher made that last detail up).
