Twitter is down!!!

Run home! Lock your windows and doors! Make sure your children are inside, safe from the rampaging mob that’s sure to be sweeping up towns and cities all over the world – Twitter is down! Yes, Twitter is down! Please, don’t do anything drastic like set fire to your local shops, or lay siege to a police station, it will be back. Eventually.

If you must stay in the Twitterverse, stay with third party Twitter apps like your iPhone app or the world-conquering Tweetdeck, but stay well clear of Twitter.com itself, as naughty hackers have ravaged the site with blacked out tweets, giant letters. The hackers appear to have exploited something in the onMouseOver Javascript command, which means that if you run your mouse over a tweet it will automatically repost them or redirect you to other websites.

‘It looks like many users are currently using the flaw for fun and games but there is obviously the potential for cybercriminals to redirect users to third-party websites containing malicious code or for spam advertising pop-ups to be displayed,’ said Sophos security expert, Graham Culey. You can’t be too careful, you know.
