Today's the day

BlackBerry addict who wants to join the tablet revolution? Apple-hater who'll buy anything that doesn't have an 'i' in the name? Man-about-town who craves portability above all else? Whatever the reason, if you're excited about RIM's new BlackBerry Playbook tablet, today's the day you can get your hands on one.

Not anywhere, mind. Carphone Warehouse and Phones 4 U are the places to go for some Playbook action right now. They got first dibs, but the Playbook should make its way into your local electronics store of choice in the next few weeks.

What do you get, and for how much? Well, £399 will get you a 16GB model, £479 a 32GB, and £549 a 64GB model. That's wi-fi only, as RIM don't have any plans to release a 3G model in the UK right now (though a Playbook can connect to a BlackBerry to get on the internet). Alternatively, if you're in the market for a phone as well as a tablet, you can get the Playbook bundled with a Blackberry 9300 on a special joint £37/month O2 tariff.

So if you're liking the look of the powerful, 7-inch tablet, what are you waiting for? Go play!
