Time running out in Facebook user data vote

Time is running out for Facebook users if they want to vote on how the popular social networking site will handle user data. The week-long vote on terms of use will end tonight at 8pm.

Facebook was severely criticised by its users back in February when new measures looked set to hand the social networking site ownership of user data such as photos, videos and profile information.

However, following a wave of complaint, Mark Zuckerberg & Co. did an about turn and decided to reinstate the site's previous terms and conditions of use. Facebook's founder launched the vote in an online video last week.

"The Facebook community has grown a lot over the last few years and at 200 million this population would be the fifth largest country in the world - just ahead of Brazil," Zuckerberg said. "A community that large and engaged needs a more open process and a voice in governance. That's why a month ago we announced a more transparent and democratic approach governing the Facebook site."
