The Macintosh celebrates 25 years

The Macintosh, Apple's first computer celebrated its 25th birthday on 22 January. The ground breaking machine pioneered the mouse and graphical user interface which quickly became standard features of personal computers.

The first Macintosh was launched amongst much fanfare on 22 January 1984 during the half time break at the Superbowl. It featured a 9in screen, an internal floppy disc drive, a keyboard and mouse and a paltry 128k of Ram.

Retailing at £1,840, the Macintosh was the first relatively affordable home computer to hit the international market. Check out the video below of a very young Steve Jobs showcasing the revolutionary machine.
