Tesco launches sub-£600 multimedia PC

Retail giant Tesco already sells pretty much everything you can imagine, and now it’s joined forces with PC builder Medion to offer a high-spec desktop PC for under £600. The machine comes with a terabyte of hard disk space – that’s over a thousand gigabytes, folks – along with Tesco’s own office, finance and photo editing software.

There’s no monitor, but that just highlights its most outstanding feature – a built-in TV tuner that supports Freeview and digital TV as well as analogue broadcasts. The idea is presumably that you plug it into your big ol’ flatscreen TV and just use it for everything, including watching DVDs.

They still haven’t cracked making a decent cup of tea yet, but it looks like it’s only a matter of time…
