Teenager arrested for theft of virtual swag
A 17-year-old accused of stealing virtual objects has been arrested (in real life) by Dutch police. The unnamed teenager allegedly tricked people on the Habbo World cartoon social networking site into revealing their passwords, and then made off with “things” worth about €4,000.
We’re going to be keeping an eye on this to find out what he (or she, but let’s face it, it’s less likely to be a she) was hoping to do with his stolen “goods”. Respray them and flog them on via the Habbo Hotel concierge? Take them to a lockup down by the Rotterdam e-docks? Only he knows for sure. Meanwhile, look out for avatars with stripy jumpers and bags marked “swag”…
