Sony still confident in the battle of the consoles
Microsoft claim to have sold 19m Xboxes since the console was released in the US in November 2005. In contrast the PS3 has sold 12.8m since it went on sale in November 2006, and Nintendo shifted 25m Wiis in much the same period.
Although Sony hailed the success of the release of GTA IV on the PS3, according to the market watcher Chart-Track the Xbox 360 version of Rockstar's game outsold the PS3 release by 62 per cent to 38 per cent.
But it's not all bad news for Sony with gamers buying 13.7m PS2 consoles last year, while the company's golden boy the PlayStation Portable (PSP) shifted a whopping 55.5m units.
