All About Sony DSLR Cameras

About Sony

Sony is a multi-national corporation based in Tokyo, Japan and is one of the biggest names in electronics, manufacturing and selling products such as televisions and games consoles.  Sony digital cameras include compact cameras, "Bloggie" cameras, DSLR and SLT cameras, as well as a host of camera lenses.  One of the big players in the world of photography, Sony competes directly with other well-known brands such as Nikon, Canon and Olympus.

The Alpha Range

Sony's range of DSLR cameras are entitled "Alpha" and come with a a vast array of features and options.  Alpha cameras promise ease of use, as well as the ability to shoot HD movies.  An even greater incentive is the Transparent Mirror Technology, which Sony claims enables the highest potential quality from a DSLR camera.  Other features include clearer hand-held images, full-frame imaging, friendly software and PlayStation 3 connectivity, making storing and sharing photographs easy.

With the appeal of DSLRs on the rise, Sony has responded by releasing three levels of camera; beginner, intermediate and professional.

The Beginner Range

These cameras are the cheapest and cheeriest, offering light, compact and easy to use equipment that is ideal for a beginner.  Models include the A290L, and the A390Y and each camera comes with features such as help menus, SteadyShot INSIDE, graphic displays and Quick AF LiveView.

The Intermediate range

For those with slightly higher ambitions for their photography, Sony has produced the intermediate range of cameras, including the A580 and the A580L.  These cameras offer 16.2 megapixels and full 1080p video recording.  Although the price is slightly higher, the intermediate range gives any photographer a greater level of freedom to shoot whatever they want.

The Professional Range

Finally, Sony offers the professional range of cameras, for those who demand nothing less than perfection.  Professional cameras include the A850 and the A900 and feature an incredible 24.6 megapixels, as well as brighter optical viewfinders and anti-shake correction.  These cameras are truly for those that want their photographs to stand apart from the rest!
