Sony Bravia’s latest 60-second ad – showcasing the true colours of its plasma TV range (tag line: Colour like no other) – is wicked. It took 40 animators three weeks to bring the ad’s 200 Play-doh bunnies to life. Over 10,000 still images of the bunnies gambolling through the streets of New York were used to make the minute-long commercial. Impressive, huh?
The new ad – using the Claymation technique made famous by Aardman (Wallace and Gromit, Chicken Run) – makes quite an impression. How many televisions it actually helps to shift is anyone’s guess, though. Although, great advertising is more about creating good work than shifting products, apparently.
Tell that to the people who make Shake ‘n’ Vac and Cillit Bang.
It’s still worth a look, though. Watch the Sony Bravia ad now.
