Yesterday we said that Sonic The Hedgehog 4 was almost certain to be announced today, and it was, to general joyousness among old school gaming fans. Not only that, but they’ve released a naughty little teaser trailer, which tells us that the game will be in 2D like the old Mega Drive versions and available for download through Xbox Live Arcade, WiiWare and PSN this summer. All of which is very good news for gamers.
What else? Well Gamespot ran an interview with Sega associate brand manager Ken Balough, and as well as going on a bit about the story arc (as though that ever mattered in Sonic games) he confirmed that motion control will be a part of the game in the Wii and PS3 iterations.
‘For all intents and purposes, the games are designed to be identical,’ he said. ‘There are a few differences per what each console can output visually: Wii will be at 480p, while the XBLA and PSN versions will run at 1080p. However, for certain areas of the game, the Wii will be able to use motion control, and the PS3 will be able to use the Sixaxis.’ Exciting, no?
