Skype cancels plans to charge more for 3G calls
There was a little bit of irritation among fans of free internet phone chat when Skype announced that they were planning on charging extra for calls made over 3G networks, and grumbling that this wasn’t very fair, what with it meaning we’d have to pay more for a service that we’ve grown accustomed to having for a stupidly low price (and often free). No fair!
However Skype have changed their minds about that, which is cause for a loud hooray, and on top of that they’ve have updated their iPhone app, meaning that it can now make use of the iPhone retina display and iOS4’s multitasking. The multitasking was the big thing affecting iPhone apps, and now makes Skype really rather good, as well as being stupidly cheap.
‘We no longer have plans to charge a supplement to make calls over 3G,’ said Peter Parkes, the Skype who moonlights as a Spiderman impersonator. We’re delighted to make it easier for you to talk for even longer and do even more together using Skype.’
