Sky Player on Xbox 360: date announced

We’ve been following the addition of Sky Player to Xbox Live with decreasing enthusiasm. Why bother with something that is already available on your computer and that doesn’t look like it will integrate with anything else on the system, like the Facebook and Twitter applications will?

Still, If you don’t happen to have a computer or a Sky box, it might interest you that the date for Sky Player’s release onto Xbox Live has been announced. ‘October 27 - that's the date when you'll be able to watch TV from Sky on your Xbox 360,’ said Graeme Boyd, Microsoft Europe’s Xbox community manager, and who are we to argue with such an authority?

Initially the content will only be offered in standard definition, which is a bit rubbish, and won’t be recordable, which is understandable. However, it will allow Xbox 360 owners access to movies, ‘entertainment shows,’ documentaries, music, kids’ programming and sport, live or on-demand. Prices won’t be announced until launched, so while we remain sceptical, a decent price plan could swing us. Let’s see how this one pans out...
