Second Life affair leads to real world divorce
An American couple are getting divorced after the bride caught her husband having an affair with another woman – online in Second Life.
Amy Taylor and David Pollard met online in 2003 and their virtual romance soon blossomed into a real life marriage. But after two years of wedded bliss, Pollard became suspicious of her husband's behaviour and, you couldn't make this up, hired a virtual detective to spy on her husband's avatar in Second Life.
Taylor duly discovered that her hubby was getting jiggy online with a character called Modesty McDonnell – where do they get these names? Ms Taylor filed for divorce in the real world the next day. She claims to have been heartbroken, but has recently 'met' a new man on World of Warcraft, so all's well that ends well.
