Say it isn't so!

This can't be true... can it? Apple transformed the world of mobile phones by proving you didn't need a keyboard to make a smartphone; that with modern capacitive multi-touch technology even the fat-fingered could type happily enough on a screen. Not everyone likes it - we use an iPhone but we admit we sometimes find ourselves crying out for a keyboard - but the screen-only philosophy makes the iPhone slim, sleek and simple, and those three 'S''s are a big part of its appeal.

So what the heck is this? According to reports on a Taiwanese website, Apple are shopping three different prototypes around their staff for the iPhone 5 and choosing which one to build: and one of the prototypes has a slide-out QWERTY keyboard.

This sounds crazy to us. Apple are about simple and socially-acceptable slabs of glass, not techy transforma-phones with lots of buttons. Don't get us wrong: we love techy transforma-phones. But we're not the target market here, right? We reckon Apple are just doing this to show what a bad idea this is. Or something.

What do you think? Are we being too hard on this idea? Do you quite fancy an iPhone 5 with some button action?
