Preview of the Samsung Galaxy Mega 6.3

The Samsung Galaxy Mega 6.3 tablet adds to the highly competitive mini tablet market. It slots neatly in between the Samsung Galaxy Note with a 5.55 inch screen and the iPad Mini with a 7 inch screen. Lets run through what is under the hood so that you can decide if the Mega 6.3 is the mini tablet for you.

Is it a Phone or a Tablet?

Samsung have been on a roll lately and every device they release lately seems to strike gold. The S4 launched with massive fervour and sales went through the roof almost immediately. In keeping with other sleek and slim Samsung handsets, the mega is another that is almost unbelievably thin.

The Mega 6.3 measures in at 3.5 inches wide and 7.8 inches tall and it weighs approximately 197 grams. This weight means that, even if you have massive pockets in your wardrobe selection, this device crosses the comfortably portable weight line.

The Samsung Galaxy Mega 6.3 has been designed to compete in the mid range smartphone market and as such will not be available beyond 3G capabilities. With 1.5GB RAM and a 1.7GHz dual core processor the Mega 6.3 can not compete with the likes of the S4, iPhone 5 or any other high-end smart phone. It runs Android Jelly Bean and benefits from the endless supply of apps available in the Play store.

It also has 720p HD screen and although this isn't as good as the screens available on the S4 and the Galaxy Note 2, it still provides decent viewing. This should be an important consideration for those of you looking to buy a screen that you will watch a lot of media on.

Availability and Price

A retail price for the Samsung Galaxy Mega 6.3 has yet to be set but it is expected that it will sell for around the £575 mark as retailors in Europe have been qouting prices of 700 euro. This is only a guide price though and it could sell for a little less upon its release in late May or early June. The only question for you now is how big do you like your screens?
