RIM launch the BlackBerry Storm

RIM has launched the BlackBerry Storm in the UK in an attempt to break into the personal mobile phone market currently dominated by the iPhone.

The Storm features a touchscreen instead of the BlackBerry's trademark Qwerty keyboard, a 3.2 megapixel camera and internet access limited to the 3G mobile network.

While the BlackBerry is still the number one mobile device for business people, the Storm marks a bold move into the personal mobile phone market. Vodafone are offering the new handset for free to anyone who signs up to a 24-month contract of £35 per month in an attempt to challenge Apple and O2 in the Christmas market.
