Rick Astley breaks his silence on "Rickrolling"

The Internet has given life to new forms of communication, social interaction, shining the pork bishop and looking at girls making out, thanks to its widespread usability and access. But who gives a toss about all that. It's also resurrected Rick Astley's music career.

Thanks to the "Rickrolling" phenomenon, Astley's 1987 classic "Never Gonna Give You Up" has been viewed over 7.8 million times on Youtube. And what a video. First there's the Astmeister sporting a nifty trench coat at night, then the city banker blazer look with the matching denim shirt and jeans up to his nipples completing the fashion parade.

But what the hell is "Rickrolling" you ask? Well it's a fake link to something that promises to be exciting, e.g. "Arm Wrestling With Chas & Dave" or "Youth Hostelling with Chris Eubank". But in fact turns out to be the video for "Never Gonna Give You Up" by the ginger Barry White.

But before you go cutting your ears off to avoid having to relive the supressed memories of rainy afternoons in 1987, all is not lost! In a March 2008 interview, Astley said that he isn't planning on doing a Peter Andre and cashing in on the "Rickrolling" craze by rereleasing the song. Thank the lord baby Jesus and all his saintly pals for that.
