PlayTV + Facebook = ??

The PS3’s online option seems to lag badly behind what Microsoft’s Xbox Live has to offer Xbox 360 users, at least in terms of content. However, you don’t have to pay for it, and everything else surrounding it is a damn site cheaper than the Big M’s wallet gouging operation, so swings and roundabouts, really.

This may be about to change though, with the news that PlayTV is due to get a ‘major’ update this year. We don’t know what kind of update this is exactly, nor do we know when it’s going to happen, but we do know that Facebook is going to be in there somewhere. Great, information heavy article this, isn’t it?

‘The guys at Cambridge studios are working really hard to develop some great new features for PlayTV,’ said PlayStation Network Project Manager James Thorpe on the PS3 Blog. ‘The next update for PlayTV is due later this year but testing of some of the new features has already begun. I don’t want to give too much away and spoil the surprise but a little hint to one of the new features is that PlayTV will have links to the world’s most popular social network site, Facebook. Other great enhancements to PlayTV and brand new features will also be included in the update.’
