Worst console accessories

In general console accessories are expense. What makes that worse is the fact that not all of them are very useful. We’ve taken a look at some of the worst ones to hit the market including the Steel Battalion controller for Xbox that tried to simulate what it would actually be like in an aircraft. It worked but who needs 40 buttons to control a game?

The Super Nintendo Superscope was oversized, overpriced and pretty silly looking. It needed 6 AA batteries to operate it too. Did anyone ever buy this thing?

Why play the games for real when Nintendo make such realistic accessories like these? You could get a snooker cue, a bowling ball and boxing gloves among other stuff for the Wii. All of it was worthless rubbish.

This chainsaw for GameCube was produced in homage to the 'chainsaw man' from Resident Evil. It even roared like a chainsaw should but it was a massive waste of time.

The Sega Activator was supposed to read your movements using lasers but it never worked very well which is why it’s now a forgotten piece of junk that you’re most likely to find at a car boot sale.

This peripheral was supposed to make driving games more realistic. It only succeeded in making games like Ridge Racer more frustrating than ever before. That’s why you’ve never heard of the Namco NeGcon for PlayStation before now.

The guy in this image looks more like a retired WWE wrestler than a gamer but he’s far closer to the real deal than the peripheral on his arm. The Nintendo power glove used triangulation technology that didn't work at all. It failed to grab the imagination of the playing public because it was rubbish.

This one’s from Nintendo again. It’s another gimmick rather than a gadget and it was just as much a failure as the Power Glove. The Nintendo power pad used pressure pads to allow gamers’ dance moves to translate to the screen ahead of them. The great cheat with this one was to use your hands rather than your feet when playing games like World Class Track Meet and err. Well, that’s it because World Class Track Meet was the only game offered for it.
