About Olympus

Olympus is a multinational corporation based in Tokyo, Japan.  Founded in 1919, the company manufactures and sells optical products, including digital cameras and microcasettes, medical and surgical equipment and industrial products such as scanners, image analysis software and fibrescopes.

The Olympus range of cameras is vast and includes compact digital cameras, DSRLs (digital single-lens reflex) and PEN cameras, which are a combination of both.

Compact Digital Cameras

Olympus offers four classes of camera in their digital compact range; Creator, Traveller, Tough and Smart.

The Creator series offers full manual control, a high sensitivity image sensor and a 4x zoom and includes the XZ-1 camera.

The Traveller models are high tech and stylish with a 22x optical zoom and include the SP-810UZ, the SZ-30TR and the SP-600UZ.

The Tough range cameras are strong and durable, offering water, shock and freezeproof protection, as well as HD movies.  The Tough range includes the TG-810 and the TG-310.

Finally, the Smart collection contains easy to use cameras and offers fantastic value for money.  Colourful and stylish, the Smart range includes the VR-310 and the VR-120.


The Olympus DSLR range includes camera bodies, lenses and flash systems.  The range of bodies are known as the E series and features the E-5, the E-30 and the E-450.  The E-5 offers 12.3 megapixels, 9 aspect ratios and image stabilisation.

PEN Cameras

PEN cameras include all sorts of accessories, from flash systems, lenses, underwater cases and ports.  The bodies include the E-PL3 and the E-PM1.  The E-PL3 features 12.3 megapixels, a range of different colours, a 3-inch tilt LCD screen and full HD movie recording.
