For every action there is an equal and opposite reaction; and for every cool piece of new tech we get our hands on an older piece of tech must shuffle off to the great attic in the sky. Such is the way of things, child.
But we're still sad about this. Apple may have gifted us a new, upgraded MacBook Air and MacBook Mini this week, but it has come at a cost - the original MacBook.
The very first MacBook, a lovely white plastic thing, has hung around Apple's stores for a while now with the threat of death hanging over it. Ever since Steve Jobs introduced the latest model of MacBook Air by calling it 'the future of notebooks,' it was clear Apple felt Joe Public didn't need a full-featured laptop with a hard drive and disc drive. So while the MacBook Pro continues to offer that for premium buyers, those who want a second computer or a simple one will now have to go for the Air.
We're sure this is a smart decision commercially. But we can't help but feel a little sad at the death of the white MacBook, one of the smartest, cutest little computers out there. RIP.
