Not Playing

The Playstation Network is having a nightmare of a Monday morning, causing a all sorts of problems for owners of the original (not Slim) PS3 owners. The story popped up last night on Joystiq that gamers were getting 8001050F error codes, which has stopped people connecting to PSN, playing certain offline games and even corrupting Trophy data.

Games affected so far are Heavy Rain and Dante’s Inferno, which when launched send players back to the XMB in most frustrating fashion. Meanwhile Sony have been working like little chipmunks on the problem and updating people through their PS3 Twitter page, on which it first said:

‘PSN status update: We're narrowing down the issue and continue to work to restore service to all. Updates as soon as we have them,’ before adding later: ‘PSN status update (part 2): Readers/followers are confirming that ‘slim’ units (120/250 GB models) are connecting normally.’ So hold tight PS3 owners, hopefully by the time you get home from work things will be running as normal.
