Nintendo records 8.5% increase in profits

Nintendo has recorded an 8.5% rise in profits over the last year despite the global recession. According to the BBC, the Japanese video games company made £1.85 billion in the financial year ending on March 21.

The profit increase is a nothing compared to the 47.7% rise in profits which Nintendo enjoyed last year, but it still underlines how the Japanese gaming giant has managed to defy the credit crunch thus far.

While the Nintendo Wii and DS continue to sell well the company's two main rivals, Sony and Microsoft, have both announced that they are set to make redundancies.
