Google's wide-ranging redesign continues. First it was the main page, which gained a new black bar along the top; then Gmail, which began previewing a new, similar theme. Now it's the turn of YouTube.

Google has just launched a special preview of a new look for the video-sharing site, codenamed (for some reason) 'Cosmic Panda'. It's a big improvement, with more choices over the size of the video player and - if you're using the Chrome browser - the ability to browse around playlists while watching a video. (Very, very, very, very useful.)

It's an opt-in preview right now, and you can opt back out again, so there's no harm in giving it a go. Let us know if you think it's an improvement or a backward step in the comments.
