MySpace has won $6m in a case against self-styled spam king Scott Richter. Richter was accused of spamming the popular social networking site with junk mail from a number of hacked accounts.

Richter's marketing company Media Breakway has been ordered to pay a fine of $4.8m as well as MySpace's legal fees of $1.2m. But the award pales into insignificance when compared to the $234m awarded to MySpace in its action against CyberPromotions taken earlier this year.

It's not the first time that Richter has been in court accused of spamming activities. In 2006 he was forced to pay $7m to Microsoft in a spam lawsuit, while in 2004 Richter was prevented from releasing a line of clothing under the name Spam King.
