Faithbook brings religion to Facebook

18:10 Tue 03 June 2008

While Facebook is usually used to post embarrassing drunken photos of your mates, a new group called Faithbook hope that they can use the social networking site to improve relations between different religious communities.

The Faithbook project was created by Rabbi Shoshana Boyd Gelfand of the Reform Judaism movement with the aim of promoting debate and constructive dialogue amongst different religions and developing interfaith relations.

Members can post messages on the group's wall as well as send private messages like any other Facebook group. Faithbook also features prayers, extracts from sacred texts and commentary from important religious figures about the nature of religion in the 21st century.
