Apparently we can get hooked on gadgets (who knew?). Researchers at Northampton University surveyed 360 people and declared that a third of them were “addicted” to their gadgets, with some getting up in the middle of the night to check messages on PDAs or Blackberries.

But don’t start throwing away your silicon darlings yet. The researchers were from the University’s business school, rather than from anywhere medical or techie. We were tipped off to their technical expertise by a quote from the team’s leader,  Professor Nada Kakabadse: “Technology has become much more interesting over the past ten years with the internet and everything.”
