MySpace losing battle with Facebook

TechCrunch has long been documenting MySpace's continuing fall in popularity in the face of its ongoing battle with Facebook and things look to have got even worse for the social networking site.

According to the latest statistics from Comscore, MySpace was down 71 million unique users in March and April 2009 compared to the same period last year. In contrast, Facebook now boasts 67.5 million unique users stateside and is adding millions each month.

The figures seem to suggest that MySpace has finally lost its battle with Facebook and TechCrunch claims that their could be even more hard times ahead for Tom and his friends with the site also haemorrhaging page views at an alarming rate.

Monthly page views of MySpace worldwide have dropped from 47.4 billion in 2008 to 38 million this year, a decrease of almost 20%. Iceberg!!
