Multiplayer for Batman?

Batman: Arkham City is going to be one of the few upcoming ‘Triple A’ titles that doesn’t have any multiplayer, which we happen to think is a bold move. Developer Rocksteady has said a game that was so focussed on the single player campaign didn’t require multiplayer, but we’re not sure what different that makes: Assassin’s Creed Brotherhood, a game with a very similar style and focus on single player, offered a super multiplayer experience; so why not Bats?

However, Rocksteady have admitted that they did think about multiplayer for the latest addition, but most importantly, that they would consider it for any future iterations. Interesting.

‘We considered it pretty briefly,’ said Rocksteady marketing game manager Dax Ginn. ‘Also it didn't really make a lot of sense for a game that is so single character-centric.

‘I can totally see that multiplayer is a super popular thing and online playability seems to be growing and something that people desire. So I can't say what's going to happen down the track but for Arkham City we're focused on the single-player experience.’
