Most Powerful Laptop Models in 2009

Some of the most powerful laptop models in 2009 broke the barrier for 4GB RAM memory which were featured in most high specification laptops and saw the introduction of dual hard drive capacity, a common feature in today's high performance gaming laptops.

Asus W90

Asus was normally known for its medicore netbook models until the Asus W90 was realised. This was the most popular laptop in 2009 in the world and, although it has been surpassed today, still offers greater performance than most laptops on the market. The Asus W90 boasts a dual hard drive, both with 320GB (totalling 640GB) and a huge memory capacity of 6GB. The processor used was the innovative 2.8GHz Intel Core 2 Duo T9600 and, combined with a high powered graphics card, the laptop delivered a high definition resolution on its 18.4 1,920x1,080 LED screen display. Some models also include an in built Blu ray disc drive to take advantage of the high resolution 35-frames per second screen.

Alienware Area-51 M17X

Alienware's Area-51 M17X was released in late 2008 but continued to be one of the most powerful laptop models throughout 2009. The laptop is primarily used for gaming, like most Alienware models, and boasts a 1920 x 1200 high definition display powered by a Nvidia GeForce 8800M GTX graphics card. The processor is specially designed for gaming and high performance applications and the 4GB RAM memory is certainly enough to cope with high definition gaming. Throughout 2009 the M17X was the fastest and most powerful gaming laptop on the market, thanks to all its hefty intensive gaming components.

Sager NP9285 / Clevo D900F

The Sager NP9285 rivals Asus' high performance model with the same processor but a more discrete and higher performance graphics card, allowing high definition recording and screen resolution with both DVI and HDMI output. The memory, which is also 4GB, also uses a triple-chipset which allows users to make the most of their full 4GB memory capacity. However, unlike other models this Sager laptop features three hard drive for almost 1TB of storage.
