Monkeying about

Super Monkey Ball was one of our favourite party games back when it was released on the Gamecube, all those years ago. In those days us gamers didn’t expect crazy flashy graphics, just pixel monkeys bashing into each other and collecting bananas – ah, simpler times. However, given that we now all want hyper realistic environments and dead serious storyline, there doesn’t appear to be a place for the furry little chaps.

That’s where the Nintendo 3DS steps in, of course, offering gamers the chance to once again take control of the like of AiAi, MeeMee, Baby and Gongon. Presumably that means you can use the tilt-control, which should be fun, but it’s not the most social of ways to pay the game, is it? Part of the fun was always watching your mates’ reactions to being slapped about with a giant boxing glove; who really wants to play the game online, or for single player?

You can take a look at how the game will look in the trailer below, but the chances are you’ll already have a pretty good idea.
