Medal of Dishonour

Get ready for some game controversy, the sort that the tabloids will really get their teeth stuck into and wring dry, day after day after day. In the latest Medal of Honour you get to play some sections as a Taliban terrorist/resistance fighter, so expect headlines like ‘Video Game Nasty supports Terror’, or ‘Now They’re teaching Taliban Terror Tricks’ from people who haven’t played a game in their entire lives. It’s going to be fun.

However, if you can avoid the Daily Mail, Express or the Sun (and maybe the Star, although they’ll have to tread carefully after their GTA balls up), then the new gritty version of the game should be right up your collective alleys. That’s assuming you like shooting and explosions and that, and who doesn’t?

‘We do stir up some feelings, although it's not about the war, it's about the soldiers,’ said the game's producer Patrick Liu. ‘We can't get away from what the setting is and who the factions are but, in the end, it's a game, so we're not pushing or provoking too hard.’
