London to get citywide Wi-Fi

Isn’t Wi-Fi brilliant? With a couple of clicks on your laptop or smart phone you have all the knowledge of the universe at your fingerprints, the one downfall being of course that you need to be connected to Wi-Fi to get the data.

Cities like New York have had Wi-Fi hotspots for years now. London, frustratingly, has been long behind the curve. But if Boris Johnson’s plans come off to have free Wi-Fi all over the city then that could soon be a thing of the past. Talking at the Google Zeitgeist event Boris announced plans to have citywide Wi-Fi in London in time for the 2012 Olympics: ‘every lamppost and every bus stop will one day very soon, and before the 2012 Olympics, be Wi-Fi enabled.’

Who cares if Team GB win any medals, we’ll be the first to sign the petition to make Boris Prime Minister of Great Britain if he can pull this one off.
