LittleBigPlanet delayed over fears of offending Muslims
Sony has delayed the release of the highly anticipated game LittleBigPlanet over concerns that it is offensive to Muslims. The game has been taken off the shelves after it was pointed out that some of the background music contained phrases from the Koran.
The creators of LittleBigPlanet, Media Molecule, released a statement via their website: "We're sure that most of you have heard by now that one of the background music tracks that was licensed from a record label for use in the game contains two expressions that can be found in the Koran. We have taken immediate action to rectify this and we sincerely apologise for any offence this may have caused."
A spokesman for the Muslim Forum think-thank told the BBC that setting the Koran to music would be considered highly offensive by Muslims. Sony has also issued an apology and announced that a new version of LittleBigPlanet will be released on 3 November in the UK..
