We look for the best deals on laptops under 100 pounds

If things are particularly tight at the moment and you desperately need a replacement laptop, or simply a new one for a young member of the family or someone who only needs a machine to browse the internet, then it's possible for you to pick up the most basic of laptops for under 100 pounds.

It won't be fast, nor will it be pretty to look at, and it's unlikely to be as powerful as some of the smartphones currently available on the market today, but it will serve a purpose and should be more than capable of browsing websites and using email, and let's face it, isn't that all most people use their computers for these days?

There are a number of websites out there who specialise in super cheap bargain laptops for just this reason. Today we're going to take a look at is The Laptop Company, whose website at thelaptopcompany.com currently has a couple of sub £100 laptops on offer.

For £99.99 you can get the HP Compaq N400c 12.1 inch laptop with an 800MHz Intel Pentium 3 processor, 256MB of RAM and a 20GB hard drive. This system runs Windows XP and features a single USB port. For £94.99 you can get the Panasonic Toughbook CF-27 12.1 inch laptop. This one features an Intel Pentium 2 processor running at 400MHz, 128MB of RAM and a 6GB hard drive. Despite the fact that it's a little cheaper than the Compaq we really wouldn't recommend this one at all.
