L.A. Noire a 'strong franchise'

L.A Noire has certainly been a very successful release for Take Two so far: rumours suggest that the company shipped 1.6million copies of the game in its debut week, which compares favourably with the 1.9million that Red Dead Redemption shipped. It’s done so well in fact, that it looks like they’re considering a sequel.

CEO of publisher Take Two, Strauss Zelnick, was talking at the company’s annual earnings call, where he said that the numbers were promising. However more interestingly he also called the game a ‘franchise’, which suggests that we’re in for more investigating action. Maybe they’ll be set in different cities, like GTA is. Now that would be cool, especially if they opened up the environments to a bit of roaming.

‘We try to be folks that shy away from early projections and we'd rather announce things after they happen,’ said Zelnick. ‘We're really pleased, and the early feedback from the channel is also exceedingly strong.

‘We certainly don't want to be subject to comparing all of our new releases of new franchises against the extraordinary success of Red Dead Redemption. Every title stands alone. That said, we have every reason to believe that L.A. Noire is another strong franchise for this company. No matter how you slice it, it's a very successful release.’
