Kid stabs dad over video game

Recently we’ve had a few people claiming that video games cause violence, and that they’re turning our children into inhuman monsters, incapable of real human emotion or interaction. However we think we’ve found the real cause of child violence: irritating parents who should keep their noses out of our important gaming business. One Italian teenager found the solution to this problem, by stabbing his dad in the neck with a 15-inch long kitchen knife. Way to go nuclear, kid.

The 16 year old lad, amusingly-named Mario, was playing FIFA 09 on his PS3 when his dad started telling him how to play the game better, after which a row broke out between the feisty father and son. Daddy, otherwise known as Fabrizio, turned the telly off in response to his son’s tantrum, prompting Mario to commit his heinous act of violence. Just thank the lord he hadn’t been playing Assassin’s Creed 2, or he’d have finished the job properly.

Afterwards Mario calmly went into the kitchen to wash the knife (a nice touch, we feel), before going up to his room. When the Police came he didn’t even bother resisting, which was probably for the best. Suffice to say papa is still alive, otherwise all these wisecracks would be a little bit macabre.

‘I saw Mario come back into the room, he seemed calm, he went to the sink and I noticed him washing a knife,’ Mama Monica told Italian daily Il Corriere della Sera. ‘Then my husband came into the room with a hand round his neck, dripping blood.

‘Mario is obsessed. He's forever playing on his PlayStation, and we bought him FIFA 2009 because we didn't want him playing violent games.’ What’s the problem? At least he did the washing up.
