iPhone 4 receives ‘poor’ reception

The iPhone 4 has only been on shelves for a matter of hours, and already users are complaining about its poor phone signal.

When Steve Jobs gloated about the new phone in January, he spoke about the revolutionary outer casing which doubles up as its antenna, but early feedback notes that holding the phone blocks its reception. Complaints have come from left-handed users who, when they hold the phone, can visibly see their reception bars go from 5 down to 0.

Obviously this has peeved lots of customers, so Steve Job himself has quickly responded with the, to be honest, rather weak solution, ’um, just avoid holding it in that way’.

Apple’s CEO admitted to 'attenuation of its antenna performance, with certain places being worse than others. If you ever experience this on your iPhone 4, avoid gripping it in the lower left corner in a way that covers both sides of the black strip in the metal band, or simply use one of many available cases'

Oh well, only 12 months to go until the iPhone 4S comes out...
